Boston vs Vermont
The Vermont Catamounts hosted the Boston Terriers at Patrick Gymnasium for the last game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon February 27, 2011 in Burlington, Vermont.
The last time these two met at Patrick Gym was in the America East Championship game last year. Vermont won that game to advance to the NCAA tournament.
Heading into this game, the Catamounts had already won the regualr season title and the Terriers were a close 2nd. The game didn't mean a thing as far as the America East standings go, so this one was just for pride. With all of the energy in the building, it felt like the championship game and you just knew it was going to be a close one.
Before the game, Vermont seniors Evan Fjeld, Garrett Kissel, and Joey Accauoi (Along with there families) were honored in a ceremony and each player was given a framed jersey and a photo plaque.
Vermont start the day minus one of their top scorers, Brendan Bald, due to an injury suffered in a practice and senior Evan Fjeld went down late in the first half with an ankle injury and would not return to the game.
Boston beat Vermont 66-64 in overtime to sweep the Catamounts this season.
Both teams head to Hartford for the America East Tournament. Let's hope these two can meet again in the Championship game again this year.
Now that would be a good game!
