Dark Side of the Mountain took the stage again for a performance at the newly renovated Rusty Nail in Stowe, Vermont on Friday night March 28, 2014 featuring special guests Kat Wright, Jake Whitesell, and Mark Daly.
The Rusty Nail has been closed for a while now, waiting for someone to come in and take over the place. It's actually a really cool venue and a great place to see a show. The only problem... it's kind of off the beaten path for concert goers coming from the greater Burlington area. The new owners have done a lot of work to the place and put an amazing new sound system in. Now all they need is to put on some good shows and the for the people to show up. I really hope this place can make it this time. If you get a chance definitely go and see a show there.
I totally intended to film this show since I have filmed all the others but I was having some technical difficulties with the video camera's so I decided to shoot stills instead. I set up the GoPro on the drum kit to shoot stills during the show. The new GoPro Hero 3+ is a pretty amazing little camera. I've been using it a couple months now and I love it for the drum kit camera. With the app you can control all aspects of the camera's function right from your phone. There is a delay when you hit the button to take a photo so that was a little challenging to get the right timing for a good shot. Most of the shots were blurry because of the low light and Matt Burr rockin' out on the drums but the camera did pretty well and I did manage to get a couple good ones.
Kat Wright (Kat Wright and the Indomitable Soul Band) came out and sang on the songs Us and Them and Have a Cigar during the second set.
Mark Daly (Plato's Ears) came out for a rendition of Great Gig in the Sky and he's killed it! Love the outfit.
Thanks to David Pond for killin' it on the projections once again!
